Prophetic Gift, Edifying Ministry
Ephesians 4:16 reminds us that God is working in the church to grow it, not numerically, but spiritually as the body "being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies . . . causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love." It is easy for us to forget the goal of spiritual growth and to get focused on building ourselves up instead of building up the body. Working for the building up of the body of Christ happens as we love each other and seek to make Christ's name known instead of making a name for ourselves. This is why we gather every week, and I pray that God will cause Liberty Baptist to grow as we build each other up in love.
This Sunday, we will finish our SAVED: Studies in Soteriology Sunday school series as we study the end of salvation: our glorification. In the morning worship, we will continue on in our Being the Body series in 1 Corinthians looking at 1 Corinthians 14:1-25 and considering particularly the gifts of tongues and prophecy and their benefit in the church. In the evening worship we are planning a special service of song and testimony. As of right now, we are planning on having the evening service in either the pavilion or around the fire pit (weather contingent). Hebrews reminds us that we must be present in the gatherings of the church in order to build each other up (10:23-25). Please make the corporate gathering a priority for your family as we worship on Sunday.
