A Disciple Who Remembers

Our confidence that God knows and guides our lives is a great comfort. We all face times of uncertainty and doubt. Life doesn’t go as we expect or as we think it should. But even in these times of uncertainty and doubt, we can know that God is working. We know this because Christ’s life teaches us so. Christ knew the details surrounding His last supper and instructed Peter and John. They found things exactly as He’d described them. Christ pointed to the hope of the kingdom that would follow His time of suffering. This offered assurance that His suffering wasn’t the end. Now, when we look back on His suffering, we know that God planned it and allowed it. Instead of allowing fear, doubt, and uncertainty to rule our hearts and paralyze us, we can trust God. He knows our path; He guides our future, and He’s using it. It’s exactly like Christ’s life. God sees the details; the suffering isn’t the end; and our recollection of the result drives us to praise. God worked in Christ’s undeserved suffering to make a way of salvation for us. He’ll use our suffering, deserved and undeserved, to show His glory as well. You can count on it! –Pastor Rory
