One of God’s great works is to take seemingly chance encounters and turn them into divine appointments. As we walk through our days, we attempt to schedule our time so we can organize ourselves. But we also recognize that we can’t schedule or even track everything. We may plan to work on a project for a set amount of time in the morning. But we can’t arrange our co-worker to be planning to work on the same thing, or to see the urgency and not interrupt. But God isn’t bound by space and time like we are. He sees every day like it’s today. He sees every schedule, every path, every plan; and He is never overwhelmed keeping track of it all. As God sees every moment, He is using those moments to work His plan in our lives as He draws us to Himself and changes us. When Jesus met Zacchaeus, the crowds seemed to think it was a chance encounter. But Jesus was looking for Zacchaeus. Jesus had come to seek and save the lost, and Zacchaeus was ready to be found. That seeming chance encounter changed Zacchaeus, but it wasn’t chance. It was the sovereign God pursuing a broken sinner to show him salvation in Christ. Your encounters with God aren’t chance, either. He is working through every word of His Word that’s read or preached. He has a plan for every moment of prayer and praise. Believe this and dive into these moments, like Zacchaeus, so God can change you too. –Pastor Rory
