When we think of going to church, we think of going to a building. When we speak of “the church,” we readily think of what we see and what we experience—a sanctuary with people, a pastor preaching, a choir or praise team singing, children’s programs, etc. But when Paul speaks of the church to the Ephesians, he envisions something less physical and more spiritual. In Ephesians 2:19-22, Paul paints a beautiful picture of the church as God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus Himself as the cornerstone. Paul reminds us that we are no longer strangers or outsiders but fellow citizens with the saints, members of a family where God dwells by His Spirit. This passage highlights both our new identity and our shared purpose: to be joined together into a holy temple where God’s presence is revealed. Only when we properly understand what “the church” is will we rightly know how to prioritize “church” and how to biblically relate to one another. Liberty Baptist is not a social club, a business, or a theater. We are the body of Christ, called to unite around the gospel and to grow in love. Our unity in Christ is not optional but essential. To live this out, we must prioritize what unites us—our faith in Christ—over what might divide us, seeking peace, practicing humility, and building one another up in love as God’s Spirit shapes us into one dwelling place for His glory. –Pastor Nate
