Joyful News

Each year, we set aside a time to focus on the Great Commission, to remind ourselves of the glorious gospel we are called to share, and to learn from others who come from various fields of ministry. The theme for this year’s missions conference is “Joyful News!” Isaiah 52:7 speaks of the joy and beauty that accompany the proclamation of God’s good news. The Apostle Paul quotes this text in his letter to the Romans. It is here in chapter 10 that Paul articulates the glorious salvation that the gospel provides for both the Jews and Greeks. Both Isaiah and Paul remind us that sharing the good news of Jesus isn’t just a duty—it’s a delight. We proclaim a message that changes lives, heals hearts, and offers peace with God. The imagery of a messenger running across the hills to announce victory and peace captures the heart of the gospel—God’s saving work on behalf of His people. The “joy news” is that the Lord reigns and has acted to redeem and restore His people. In Christ, this prophecy finds its ultimate fulfillment: Jesus is the true bearer of good news, declaring peace through His cross and resurrection. For those who receive this message, the beauty is not merely in the messenger but in the message itself—the glorious announcement that God has triumphed over sin and death, and His kingdom of peace will come. –Pastor Nate
