Peace Fulfilled

Christ is the promised peace; the One who brings peace into the world. We tend to think of peace as only the absence of war, but it goes much deeper than that. The peace that Jesus brings reconciles us to God. We who were once rebels against Him have been brought near by Jesus’s blood. Through His righteous sacrifice, we now have access to God and fellowship with Him. He also brings peace in ourselves. In Christ, we have a peace that passes understanding even in the hardest of times. His peace in us guards our hearts and minds to help us process our circumstances. He helps us rest in God when life feels out of control. Finally, He brings peace with others. This will one day come about with the end of war, but the church is a foretaste of this tangible peace. God unites competing, alienated people groups into one new people group in Himself. The church is that new people group, the people of God, with no shared ethnicity or culture. United instead by our King Jesus, the Prince of Peace, who reconciles us, both to God and to each other. This is the peace of Christ. This is the peace of Christmas. Peace with God, with ourselves, and with each other. It’s the peace we all long for, available only through Christ. –Pastor Rory
