A Savior Who Lives

As we enter a new year, I am reminded that God specializes in fresh beginnings. The resurrection of Jesus reminds us that God brings life where there was death, hope where there was despair. The empty tomb declares that the past does not have the final word, and neither do our failures, fears, or unfinished stories. Because Christ is risen, we step into this year not merely turning a calendar page, but walking in resurrection power, trusting that God is already at work ahead of us. Whatever lies before us—joys, challenges, or unknowns—we can move forward with confident anticipation, knowing the same power that raised Jesus from the grave is alive in us, making all things new. Luke’s account of the resurrection (Lk 24:1-12) reveals God’s decisive vindication of Jesus as the crucified Messiah and the turning point of salvation history. Let the resurrection reshape how we live this year. Because Jesus is risen, fear gives way to peace (24:36), doubt can be met with truth, and despair is transformed into hope, as seen in the hearts of the three women who returned from the tomb to excitedly report to the apostles of Jesus’s resurrection (Lk 24:9-10). The risen Christ assures us that sin and death have been defeated; repentance and forgiveness of sins are now proclaimed in His name to all nations (24:47). This means Christians live as resurrection people—anchored in a living Savior, confident in the promises of God, and sent into the world as witnesses of the hope that Christ is alive and reigns forever. –Pastor Nate
