We live in a world that is searching for hope. Like Jairus and the hemorrhaging woman in the gospels, people feel hopeless and discouraged by life’s difficulties. Sickness, death, broken relationships, and sin sap our optimism and cause us to question our life and purpose. But our God is a God of hope! Even more, when God speaks of hope, it is far deeper than the hope our world seeks. The hope God gives to the believer is a confidence that He is working and will accomplish His good purpose in us. Jesus embodies this hope. He provides hope when life feels hopeless. In Luke 8 Jairus was desperate for Jesus to save his dying daughter. Likewise, the woman with the issue of blood had spent most of her resources looking for healing. They were both overwhelmed by hopelessness situations. But when Jesus steps in, He provides hope through healing and life that leads to peace and joy. He saves both of them from their hopeless condition and establishes them in hope. He offers the same hope to us by restoring our optimism and confirming our faith. Regardless of the circumstances, Jesus’s hope endures. Only believe; your faith will save you, and hope will come.–Pastor Rory
