When we face various trials and tests in our lives, we may be tempted to think that God has abandoned us. Because things aren’t going according to our expectations, we assume that God’s plan for our lives must have failed or perhaps that He has forgotten about us. But as long as God continues to preserve our lives, we can rest assured that He is accomplishing His plan through us. Far from abandoning us or His plan, the trials and tests God allows are for the purpose of accomplishing His plan. While we struggle to see His plan in the midst of difficulties, His Word assures us that His plan cannot be thwarted. Scriptures like Romans 8 and 2 Corinthians 4 offer us this assurance. And so we endure, trusting God to continue preserving our lives as long as He needs to fulfill His plan. May God grant us the grace to hear His Word when all we can see is trials.
